NIRO gets reinforcement from a neighbor in the Port of Dortmund: Chemikalien-Gesellschaft Hans Lungmuß mbH & Co. KG from Dortmund, a specialist for innovative refractory products, is a new member of our network.
Since our move, we still don’t know all the companies in our new environment.
What’s particularly nice is when neighbors become members. Physical proximity meets personal closeness in the network. Tradition meets innovation in our new member company.
Chemikalien-Gesellschaft Hans Lungmuß mbH & Co KG was founded in 1958. The third-generation family business specializes in innovative refractory products and has been one of the leading suppliers of unshaped refractory products in Europe for over 60 years. They are used in blast furnace plants in the form of blast furnace bodies and in steelworks as monolithic products and prefabricated components for various applications. Lungmuß manufactures coreless induction furnaces for iron and steel foundries. Lungmuß also has a broad product portfolio for the non-ferrous and ferro-alloy industries as well as the aluminum industry.
NIRO is delighted that Lungmuß is now part of the network and can contribute its experience in the field of fire resistance.
5 questions for Klaus Lungmuß and Uwe Lungmuß, Managing Partners, Chemikalien-Gesellschaft Hans Lungmuß mbH & Co. KG

NIRO: Welcome as a new member of the Industrie RuhrOst network! Your company is now strengthening our network. What was the main reason for you to become a member of NIRO?
Klaus Lungmuß/Uwe Lungmuß: The ever-increasing proportion of activities that are not directly related to the actual business objective ties up a lot of resources. We hope to achieve synergies in these areas in particular through the network. We also think it makes sense to regularly exchange ideas with like-minded people from other sectors so that we can think outside the box.
NIRO: Which topics are currently particularly important in your company? What should be discussed in the network? What role does sustainability play at Chemikalien-Gesellschaft Hans Lungmuß mbH & Co KG?
Klaus Lungmuß/Uwe Lungmuß: In addition to discussing everyday challenges, where you can benefit from different experiences, you should also discuss and position yourself on current economic policy issues. Never before has economic policy intervened so deeply in business processes. Entrepreneurial freedom is extremely limited. Even as non-political players, we can no longer remain indifferent to this.
NIRO: Which products, services or innovations from Chemikalien-Gesellschaft Hans Lungmuß mbH & Co. KG could also be of interest to other NIRO member companies?
Klaus Lungmuß/Uwe Lungmuß: We are not yet in a position to judge that. Many of the processes that make us successful on the market are certainly not easily transferable to other companies due to our special customer structure. Perhaps the ideas will come with time. We are happy to share our experience.
NIRO: What current challenges do you see for your company due to increasing digitalization processes and to what extent could being part of NIRO be helpful?
Klaus Lungmuß/Uwe Lungmuß: We are currently trying to find out this point. This is certainly where the exchange with other companies pursuing similar goals is most helpful. For many of the processes involved, the exchange seems to be particularly beneficial for all those involved.
NIRO: And finally, a bit of wishful thinking: what event can NIRO plan for you or your team?
Klaus Lungmuß/Uwe Lungmuß: We’ll definitely think of something in the future…
NIRO: Thank you very much and here’s to good cooperation!
