Summer barbecue 2025

It was that time again: members, friends and partners of NIRO came together on August 28, 2025 to use a relaxed lunch break for networking.

Yes, it has been much sunnier and more summery in the past, but what we all know and love in our network: when it gets a bit rough, we just move together. And when the rain came, it was all over.
This year, around 130 guests came to our summer barbecue event.

Josef Mertens, 1st Deputy Chairman of our network, welcomed the guests and emphasized that it is nice when the Executive Board can also be present at important events. He pointed out that networking takes many forms: Many different member companies, working groups, key topics, events, framework agreements and partners come together at NIRO. Content-related work has priority. However, it is also important to get in touch and talk easily and casually. And it is clear that this form of professional relationship management works.

Our Managing Director Ingrid Lange welcomed the NIRO family and was delighted with the excellent response to spending a lunch break with other people who are part of the network without any fixed topics. Members, partners and friends were able to make the most of the time to catch up with each other, discuss current events and make new contacts.
She drew particular attention to a special guest this year and thanked them for their support: some students from the GET Racing team – a talent factory at TU Dortmund University and experts in electric racing cars – were on hand to present their work. And there was also something to win…

As a highlight of this year’s summer barbecue, the GET racing team from TU Dortmund University supported us, bringing along a current e-racing car and offering a test drive in a racing car and a GET racing team shirt as prizes for our competition. Our lucky fairy Victoria Tischenko was able to draw three lucky winners: The first prize went to Marcus Möhring. He can redeem the test drive in the racing car at the GET racing anniversary weekend in September 2025. Alina Liehm won the GET racing team shirt and Jan Guldbrandsen was delighted with the third prize, a magnum bottle of sparkling wine.
So everything was just as it should be for a proper prize-giving ceremony.

Delicious food from the barbecue, good conversations and open and interested people who support the idea of networking gave us a lunch break today that we will remember fondly.

Many thanks to everyone who attended, even in the somewhat indecisive summer weather.
A big thank you to our member company ABP Induction Systems GmbH for allowing us to borrow the canteen terrace for our summer barbecue. And of course many thanks to GET racing for the exciting insights into their club life and the great prizes! If you would like to contact GET racing directly or support their work, you can find all the information here.
