Anyone who has ever worked in a lean environment is usually familiar with Kanban.
The control system, which originated in Japan, offers a flexible and efficient production system that is much more adaptable than traditional, centrally controlled production control and intralogistics processes. The procedure is based exclusively on the actual consumption of materials at the point of provision and consumption.
Kanban as a system in procurement management was the main focus of the workshop at BROCK Kehrtechnik.
Marc Scherer, Purchasing Manager at BROCK Kehrtechnik, began by welcoming the group and introducing his company.
After a brief joint definition of the goals for the afternoon, all participants gave a brief overview in a round of introductions as to whether they already use Kanban in their company or whether they are planning to do so in the future. Current examples and challenges in the use of Kanban systems were also discussed. This helped to create a basic common picture and understanding of Kanban.
The next step was to take a closer look at the Kanban solution used at BROCK Kehrtechnik. During the tour of the production facility, the group was able to understand this directly on site. The concrete example, the lively discussion and the exchange of experiences showed the extent to which a Kanban system can serve to increase efficient procurement management. The workshop participants want to continue working on this topic and get to know other Kanban systems.
After the summer vacations, the group will meet at Geotec Bohrtechnik GmbH in Nordkirchen to take a closer look at another Kanban system, a dispensing machine for consumables.
As always, invitations will be sent out promptly via our NIRO Knowledge. Many thanks at this point to BROCK Kehrtechnik as host for this workshop and the presentation of the Kanban system used.
